Meet EV Talesman of Vatican Tattoo in Delray Beach
My Journey into Tattooing
I loved tattoos from a young age. I always wanted them but never thought I’d make a living as a tattoo artist. While in college, I started working in tattoo shops. This set me on my current path. Getting an apprenticeship was tough. My first one, at a shop I worked in, didn’t work out after a year. Then, my best friend, Megan Fernandez, a fellow tattooer, offered me an apprenticeship. I quit my job and moved to Panama City Beach, FL, two weeks later to learn the craft. I’m forever grateful for her teaching. Now, back in South Florida, I’ve been tattooing for nearly nine years. It’s one of the most rewarding careers.
Overcoming Challenges in Tattooing
The path hasn’t been easy. People often ask how to become a tattooer, and I tell them it must be their true passion. Learning takes years, and you sacrifice a lot. Even then, success isn’t guaranteed. Building a clientele and connections requires hard work. During my apprenticeship, I sometimes felt I’d never tattoo. As a woman in this industry, it can be challenging too. I’m lucky to work with a supportive team I consider family.
About Vatican Tattoo Studio
I work at Vatican Tattoo Studio in downtown Delray Beach, FL, since we opened in November 2016. My specialty is traditional tattoos—bold, classic designs that last. I’m proud of our amazing team and clients. Our shop feels welcoming, not intimidating like some tattoo parlors. Whether you’re a tattoo enthusiast or a first-timer, we create a comfortable space. We care about every client and aim to give them tattoos they’ll love.
Cherished Childhood Memories
Growing up, my family traveled a lot, and those trips are unforgettable. One favorite was a winter trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We stayed in a beautiful mountain cabin. My sister and I still laugh about our inside jokes from that trip. Family means everything to me, and those moments together are precious.
